The Espresso Martini, All Year: 12 Seasonal Recipes

The Espresso Martini, All Year: 12 Seasonal Recipes

Hosting a holiday party — or just having a few friends over — and wondering how to make an espresso martini for a crowd? You're in good company. The espresso martini is one of the most-ordered cocktails in the country, and also one of the fussiest to make to order: fresh espresso, cold vodka, coffee liqueur, and a hard shake for that signature crema, for every single guest. That's a lot of bartending when you'd rather be enjoying your own party.

So we did the hard part for you. Every recipe here starts with Spark Plug — our award-winning canned nitro espresso martini — as the base: real Arabica coffee, a real 20% ABV, and a nitrogen crema that builds itself the moment you pour. One base, twelve moments. A single seasonal pour turns that clean canned espresso martini into twelve signature recipes, one for every holiday and occasion on the calendar — no barista, no bar cart, no compromise.

Here's a signature Spark Plug for every occasion, all year long — the Add and the Garnish do the rest.

How to make an espresso martini at home — the easy way

Because the nitro does the work, there's no shaking a drink from scratch for every guest. Pour half a can of Spark Plug (one 3.5 oz serving) over ice into a cocktail shaker, add the seasonal pour, and shake hard to wake the nitrogen. Strain up into a chilled coupe: with the add, that's a proper 4–4.5 oz martini — and a full can makes two. Entertaining a crowd? Line up the cans, batch the shakes, and pour a round of espresso martinis in the time it takes to make one from scratch. The adds below are per drink, so start at the low end and adjust to taste.

Rules of the ritual

  • Shake it. Spark Plug hits the shaker with ice first — that's what wakes the nitro and builds the crema. Shake, don't stir.
  • Keep it cold. Chill the glass and the liqueur before you build.
  • Add the season. ½–¾ oz of the seasonal pour to a half-can serving, shake again, and strain up.
  • Dress the glass with intent. The rim and the crown are the whole personality.
  • Three coffee beans for luck. Always.

A quick note on proof: Spark Plug is already 20% ABV, and every add makes these stronger than a standard pour. Keep it 21+, and enjoy responsibly.

The beauty of a Spark Plug base is that you're never starting from scratch — the coffee, the vodka, and the crema are handled. All you're doing is dressing it for the occasion. Find the season you're in, grab a can, and make it your signature.
